EDP Weekender -
This April Electric Deluxe Presents—EDXL’s forward thinking techno party—toasts four years on the circuit with a weekend string of events, touching down in Lausanne and London before wrapping up at bass-camp at the prestigious Melkweg, Amsterdam. Matching the label’s liberal aesthetic, founded on granting artists the creative freedom to do pursue projects beyond their “normal” parameters, EDP events have been a meeting point for leaders in the electronic field spanning a range of scales and sonic factions.
Whether its entertaining 60,000 revellers at a sold out Mysteryland Festival, to hosting intimate label nights, EDP has consistently delivered a taut program of acts at showcases Europe-wide. Line-ups to date have transcended the tiers of techno to present legendary figures like Richie Hawtin, Luke Slater and Jeff Mills alongside cult acts such as Marcel Dettman, Function and Perc, whist dipping into its own esteemed roster pool. With the label in mind, EDP is far from a straight techno party having presented DJ sets from Simian Mobile Disco and Modeselektor as well as habitually plucking peripheral acts like Matthew Dear and Brendon Moeller (Echologist / Beat Pharmacy), who have refashioned the techno genre to push the very boundaries of modern dance music.
Of course the glue that holds EDP together is Mr Electric Deluxe himself. His creative vision and technological innovation watermarks every EDP party, propped with cutting edge visuals that have propelled the brand to the forefront of electronic dance culture.
